With a sound often described as indescribable, Salt People is a creative collective of young, free-thinking musicians. Raised by the subways of NYC, the city that is ingrained in their musical DNA. Ava Mendoza plays guitars and stompboxes and writes music. She has performed or recorded with a phenomenal spectrum of artists, including Carla Bozulich, Fred Frith, Nels Cline, Tune-Yards, and many others. Ava's current project, Unnatural Ways, is a trio with Tim Dahl and Max Jaffe, but tonight she graces the Barn with a rare solo set.
