International line-up featuring the first time meeting of New York turntablist, Maria Chavez, and Kobe, Japan-based magnetic pickup and metal operator, Tim Olive, UK sound/performance artists, Rosanne Robertson & Debbie Sharp, and local bridge and tunnel turntable/reel to reel operators, Corcorax (Tom Mulligan & Che Chen). We're very excited to have Tim Olive with us from Japan, where he has been living the expat life and making noise on the Japanese improv scene for the last 20-sum years. Equally enthused to have Rosanne and Debbie of Manchester's artists' space, the Penthouse, here as well.

Maria Chavez http://www.mariachavez.org/ Born in Lima, Peru, Maria Chavez is mainly recognized in the art community as an improviser, sound artist, DJ and curator. Influenced by improvisation in contemporary art, her sound installations, visual objects and live turntable performances focus on the values of accidents and it’s unique, complicated possibilities with sound emitting machinery like the turntable.
Tim Olive http://timolive.org/ Tim Olive has been writing about himself in the third person since the beginning of this century, when he left his minimal-prog-noise-rock band Nimrod, rejecting periodic rhythms and tempered pitch in favor of improvisation and open forms, exploring the full sonic possibilities of a single steel string, magnetic pickups and simple analog electronics. Extensive live action in North America, Asia, Europe and Australia has provided opportunities to play with a wide range of musicians in event-specific one-off contexts, as well as ongoing collaborations with Alfredo Costa Monteiro, Jason Kahn, Takuji Naka, Makoto Oshiro, Takahiro Kawaguchi, Cal Lyall and others. Recent collaborators include Jin Sangtae, Madoka Kouno, Joe Foster and Tetuzi Akiyama. A Canadian residing in Kobe, Olive has CD releases on Japanese, European and North American labels, receiving positive reviews in Musicworks, Signal To Noise, The Sound Projector and The Wire magazines. Upcoming releases include recordings with Jin Sangtae, Crys Cole and Martin Tetreault. He launched his artist-run label 845 Audio in 2012.
Rosanne Robertson http://rosannerobertson.com/ Sound/performance artist and co-director of Manchester artists' space, The Penthouse (alongside Debbie Sharp). “Artist Rosanne Robertson’s very much a ‘doodlebug’, that is to say, a provocateur who tirelessly works across all platforms, creating work by any medium necessary and who works beneath the skin,” -Doodlebug for Dazed and Confused
Debbie Sharp http://debbie-sharp.com/ Director and artist at The Penthouse, based in the northwest of England. my practice often works within a space of memory and mortality. I'm interested in the history of time, the ancient and fragments of life and death, looking into the darkness of the in-between the void of existence. working within a public and personal place.creating works that are immersive and unique to the environment and moment, I've worked on commissions with Royal Northern College Of Music. produced work for Open Eye Gallery Liverpool, Deptford x festival London, LOOK11 international photography festival. Sluice art fair london and Exchange Rates New York, and had features about my work in The Wire and The guardian. I was also a member of the cult punk riot girl band, Valerie, and experimental band, Womb.
